A Graduate from St. Xavier’s with a BSc. in Physics and thereafter, a stint with the time-share and tourism sectors broke the ground for a strong structure that was to be, in coming years. This experience gave him a taste of marketing and also drove home the point that he needed more ammunition to create a self-identity in a highly competitive world. This led him to earn an MBA degree from IMS, Indore where true to himself he scored a distinction and went on to secure jobs and build his career with 8 years in the Media & Advertising business. The exposure and experience gained from established and reputed print media houses, production and manufacturing units and last but not the least with a class Ad-Firm, all contributed to the strong foundation on which the brand Hearty Mart today stands tall.
Hearty Mart has his full attention and yet having an intellectual bent of mind, he is invited as a visiting and guest faculty at several top management schools; Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) and Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Gandhinagar (EDI), Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) and ICFAI Business School (IBS), Ahmedabad.
He has to his credit a case study, “Creating a Retail Brand” co-authored with Dr. Hemant Trivedi (MICA) which was published in the European Case Clearing House (ECCH) and is also the recipient of the “Star Entrepreneurship Award” at the 3rd Indira India Innovation Summit in 2010.
For a person with such illustrious credentials, Mr. Nadeem Jafri, was not satisfied being in the comfort zone. The entrepreneur spirit emerged while still in employment with a reputed Ad firm. This spirit kept egging him to start something of his own. He would often visit newly opened large retail formats and soon he found his calling…………. Hearty Mart Supermarket, his first venture opened at a strategic crossroad location in 2004.Mr. Nadeem Jafri played against all odds and came out a winner, also making his way into the Forbes India Magazine.
He believes that business is all about cementing relationships and this still is the core value of the organization today. Customer service was given high priority and finally the absence of anything better in a similar format in the neighbourhood seemed to have struck the right chords.
Starting a business from ground level can prove to be at times stressful, lonely, daunting and all consuming. When the project did not pan out as per expectations he moved on undeterred, venturing into a new concept. Armed with past learnings the next concept was unique. Offering franchising business opportunities in the rural areas of Gujarat was an absolute winner! Empowerment at the rural level was much lauded and soon found its way into the corridors of Tier I Management Institutes and was written about in the elite business magazines.
The best was yet to come! The merger of the two companies, Hearty Mart Supermarket and Ashish Enterprise in 2008 was an exemplary partnership that worked out beautifully and created diverse businesses that in turn took the brand to greater heights, created a goodwill by delivering a ‘WOW’ feeling to its internal & external customers and gradually won many hearts.
Grooming prospective entrepreneurs, providing complete technical and operational know-how and mentoring the individual entrepreneurs of the HME group is a full time job and a passion for Mr. Nadeem.
There exists today a culture that is infused with a science of happiness backed by a strong army of workforce and supported by the two pillars of strength, Mr. Nadeem and Mr. Vajir himself.
